Today's blog post is way to important to be over looked for a beautiful Virginia Morning. About 2 weeks ago I was asked to donate my time to document Midlothian's Big Latch On out at St. Francis Hospital. I was honored!
The Big Latch On is "a lot of fun! Groups of breastfeeding women come together at registered locations around the world, at a set time they all latch on their child for one minute while being counted by witnesses. The numbers are added up and see if we beat previous Big Latch On records or maybe even the world record!"
The Big Latch on was started in 2005 to ...
- Support for communities to identify and grow opportunities to provide ongoing breastfeeding support and promotion.
- Raise awareness of breastfeeding support and knowledge available in communities.
- Help communities positively support breastfeeding in public places.
- Make breastfeeding a normal part of the day-to-day life at a local community level.
- Increase support for women who breastfeed - women are supported by there partners, family and the breastfeeding knowledge that is embedded in their communities.
- Communities have the resources to and / or advocate for coordinated appropriate and accessible breastfeeding support services.
This year was the 3rd annual Midlothian Latch On at St. Francis Hospital
The weather was a beautiful over cast and low 80s, these mommies and daddies didn't seem to mind the weather as they started to show up in groups of 4 or more to attend a great cause!
The Youngest Latcher was this beauty nursing her baby doll.
The youngest Little one was just 7 days old and happy to Latch.
This year was a great turn out at St. Francis Hospital!
& World Wide there were
young ones latch from 10:30am to 10:31am.
Congratulations Latch On Mommies!
